Canada can no longer count itself among the world’s cleanest democracies, according to the 2010 Global Integrity Report. The report, recently issued by Global Integrity, ranks Canada 19th out of 100 countries. That’s a significant drop from the country’s previous 11th position.
Granted, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his Conservatives won an outright majority last night, bagging 167 of the 308 seats in the House of Commons. But the real winners were Jack Layton, his New Democratic Party (NDP) party progressive Canadians.
