International aid to Africa needs an overhaul. Tips on what needs to change

Foreign aid "has failed to deliver sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction" in Africa, numerous studies have shown. De-linking African institutions from "an aid-dependent economic model" would be "one way to reform foreign aid" and make it work, argues Tigist Mekonnen Melesse, a post-PhD Visiting Research Fellow at the Center for Effective Global Action, University of California, Berkeley.
